Roger Edwards

I have been fortunate to work closely with Roger Edwards in the apparel business and have eagerly wanted to share his story. I have truly been inspired by him over the years as I have watched, listened and seen the results of his creations.

You may first know Roger as a fashion designer, whose clothing collections have been modelled and exhibited around the world, and worn by celebrities like Rudolph Nureyev, Lionel Ritchie, Peter Allen and many more. More than a fashion designer, Roger is also a mentor, teacher at OCAD, musician, sculptor, painter and philanthropist. One notable distinction Roger has been given is The Governor General Award of Canada for his creations.

In Roger’s early years he fell in love with art in high school, then went on to study design at OCAD in Toronto where he was inspired by his professor Lilly Maily, Pablo Picasso and Michelangelo. From these days, he has carved out a creative world with his is own artistic niche.

In the 90’s you could find Roger singing at night in local Toronto venues with his band Bunkhouse Romeo.

More recently Roger has showcased his sculptures with “The Brain Project” for Baycrest’s brain health program, a cause close to his heart. Here Roger created sculptures in glass, bronze and other mediums. For a glimpse at some of his other works, visit rogeredwards.ca where here on the landing page you will see two beautiful bronze life-sized horses appear to be grazing in a green grass field or standing in a bed of snow in the winter.

Roger has a message of wisdom to all aspiring artists -  “use your spark, hold on and stick with it, it will enhance your life and in the end, it will fulfill your life with confidence to always make you do better”.
